This Week on Dialogue: BERNADETTE PAJER

BERNADETTE PAJER

Bernadette Pajer loves the Pacific Northwest. She spent her childhood in Seattle, surrounded by beautiful mountains, listening to KJR (which played top 40 hits back then), and daydreaming (the first stage of writing). After high school, she studied pre-engineering at the University of Washington for two years before love—and a growing awareness that she was indifferent to Differential Equations—intervened. Newly wed, she and her husband moved to Orcas Island where the idea of being a writer took hold. She was working at the local bank when she met one of the island’s most famous residents, Richard Bach, author of Jonathan Livingston Seagull. She’s sure he doesn’t remember the occasion, but she recalls clearly how very kind he was. She told him she was thinking of writing, and he smiled gently and told her not to think, do. Admittance of existence, and at the same time, denial and obfuscation yield the best results for concealing the truth. Will we ever know the exact intent of the rumored conspiracies? The answer is, as with most things of this nature, probably not. Still, the quest for verity lingers. So, with that in mind, sit back and turn the pages of H.A.A.R.P.’S FURY, RED 7, and CARIBBEAN AGENDA, and then let Bryson McGann put the pieces of the puzzle together for you. For it is only in the realm of storytelling, where fact and fiction coincide, can there be answers to the puzzling and collusive events that wait to shatter the world around us.

~ William Beck
William Beck combines events from life, his military days, and the medical field, to create an intriguing series of edge-of-your-seat thrillers involving Bryson McGann and the National Earth Seas Science Agency. Masterfully scripted, these invitingly provocative tales will keep you turning pages long into the night.
Outside William Beck’s life in the medical world, the author has an intriguing list of interests. His involvement in the martial arts has spanned more than two decades, and he holds the rank of Sho Dan, in Go Ju style karate. Beck’s affinity for the sea inspired him to become a PADI certified scuba diver and underwater photographer. His zeal for this endeavor has led him to various locations and adventures around the globe. William Beck is also an accomplished pistol marksman. Hosting a divergent roster, Beck is as comfortable with his culinary talents as he is upon the practice range. Most importantly, Beck is a proud veteran of the United States Army. His personal experiences, garnered from those times, led him to practice in the medical field upon leaving military service. William Beck’s latest venture – aspiring pilot.

William Beck’s life accomplishments have aided greatly in his ability to write, dynamically influencing his style. Possessing the talent to weave intriguing entanglements, Beck’s plots serve up realistic impressions in the scenarios he has penned. Since the idea to write mainstream adult fiction occurred, Beck has published his first three novels, H.A.A.R.P.’S FURY, RED 7 and CARIBBEAN AGENDA. The author’s efforts to promote theses plausible action thrillers have included numerous book signings in various states and military bases. Beck has also made guest appearances on radio and television programs to promote his novels. He is currently at work on the fourth Bryson McGann thrilling adventure, CROSSCURRENTS.

Jeanne Ray’s latest novel CALLING INVISIBLE WOMEN (Crown Publishing Group, May 22, 2012) is getting rave reviews. What would you do if you woke up one day and discovered you were disappearing? This is the strange circumstance that Clover Hobart now faces in Jeanne Ray’s charming and original novel, CALLING INVISIBLE WOMEN. A mom in her early fifties, Clover knows that she no longer turns heads the way she used to, and she’s only really missed when dinner isn’t on the table on time. Then Clover wakes up one morning to discover she’s invisible, truly invisible. She panics, but when her husband and son sit down to dinner, nothing is amiss and her condition goes unnoticed. Her best friend, Marjorie, is the first to realize Clover’s disappearance, only cementing the fact that she has been invisible to her husband and child long before she knew she was invisible. Clover discovers that there are other women like her, women of a certain age who seem to have disappeared. As she uses her invisibility to get to know her family, her town and her self better, Clover leads the way in helping invisible women become recognized and appreciated no matter what their role.

CALLING INVISIBLE WOMEN is a compelling novel that explores women’s role in family and society and calls into question the true meaning of existence. Jeanne Ray is the mother of novelist Ann Patchett and has written six novels. She published her first novel, “Julie & Romeo,” at the age of 60 and continues to inspire women to find their voices, follow their passions and become truly visible.
